Top Rated School Lunches Welcome Back Teachers! Games Ideas Competition

Well, another academic year has passed us by and as we look back at that year and what has developed, then in all honesty it is truly startling.  In our 1st year since the ring-fenced funding stopped, we have been getting our bookings directly from the Schools cutting out the fat middle people who take their share get in the way and over-evaluate to a level of pointlessness only believable if you work in the school system!

So, as teachers sun themselves and recoup from another hectic year, our Enterprise and Skills teams review, renew and refresh our materials and develop some new ones….

The best and craziest time of year in our delivery wing of operations is always the last week of June through to the end of July, when teachers and the schools have finished with the students developed some ‘Challenge Weeks’, have tested them, played some games, it is time to send in the clowns – that is the ESC team!

Rather than clowns, we like to compare ourselves to the Title Character in that Nickelback song – ‘Rockstar.’  In our deluded brains, we truly believe we are the envy of all teachers throughout the world.  Roll in to a school, coffee and tea are set out for us, we do a sound check, talk into a mic, students come in, we entertain, we educate, we laugh, we joke, we eat the best from what a canteen provides, drink some more tea, get the students to do the work, teach, educate, laugh, joke, get the teachers to do some scoring, put on the show, do the suitable encores, rush to a 3:30 or some odd finish, bow to rapturous applause, the roadies sweep all of our technicals up, and we fall into a customised ‘tour’ style bus to make the trek back to Dorset while pursued by paparazzi, students after a sound-bite, and the Minister for Education wondering how to shape up our schools and what is our stance on the Academies debate.  I do exaggerate – there are no paparazzi – Yet!

In any case, I’ll be looking back in the next couple of weeks and rating our top ten moments, the best schools we visited and the most memorable students.  Tune in and become a friend of Ken….or email me at ken@enterpriseandskills.co.uk
