Top Rated School Lunches July Wrap Up Games Ideas Competition

Welcome to The Updated Scoop!

Without breaking any trade secrets, you will find a regularly updated summary of what’s happening with the groups (Well, we will try to write 1 more update on the groups before it’s over and we have with this update!).  So, where are we? Basically, the groups have formed, met once or twice or 3 times now, and have established a Company Name (check) and possibly have elected a Managing Director (for the most part)…here is the run-down, school by school, evening by evening, business by business…without further ado, where we stand:

Monday
Parkstone Grammar School – no name, no MD… but lots of good ideas, however none of them reflect a name or MD, but TONS of good ideas, TONS! Oh, have things changed, an incredible turnaround, the girls have a name 'ELE' an MD, Maisie Havelock-Smith who loves Tofu and Music, and they are presently blazing a trail to provide the world with brilliant products.  Lookout...!

Platinum (is the group name) advised by Handelsbanken (still going strong despite the crisis in banking) are comprised of Bournemouth School, Bournemouth School for Girls and St. Edward’s (brave Year 11s mixing with the other 6th formers).  They are proud to introduce their MD Claire Jefferies who likes achieving goals and meeting new people; Claire is flanked by Raghd Rostom, deputy MD, who describes herself as ambitious and dreams of becoming a scientist!  Well done girls! Nothing new to report here, but I have an undercover Scoopologist attending the Monday 27/10 group meeting...more to report shortly...and in keeping with the true reporter's instinct, nothing will be left out, nothing!

Tuesday
Avonbourne School – no name, but they do have an MD Lydia Sheehan who enjoys cooking and dancing, but not at the same time.  One of our smaller groups comprised of 5 members, they pride themselves on their secretive meetings, but I will be doing my best to break the silence and deliver The Scoop!....Ok we have got a name now, see, I told you I would break through...Set4Success is the moniker and judging by that they seem to be 'in it to win it.'  We'll see, as I have always said about the competition, it's not a sprint, it's an obstacle course!

Quantum (for now, is the group name) advised by Siemens (still going strong despite the crisis in Metallurgy) are comprised of Bournemouth School and Bournemouth School for Girls (there is a ban temporarily in place restricting St. Ed’s students from attending).  One of the largest groups numbering 14 strong, Quantum proudly introduce Alex Anderson as MD who enjoys snooker and humorous facial hair.  Deputising Alex is Ruth Amey who describes herself as motivated, loves a good book in between socialising.  Products right now are hush, hush….ssssshhhh! I really want to lift the lid on all this Hush Hush business; it's not good for the reputation of The Scoop and it's not good for you the reader! I will be revealing all shortly....

Ellipsis (is the group name) advised by Sunseeker (still going strong despite the crisis in leisure boating and pleasure pedalo-ing) are made up of the big 3 schools – Bournemouth School, Bournemouth School for Girls and St. Ed’s.  Ellipsis proudly placed their MD and Deputy MD in the proverbial executive perch.  Respectively, Edward Hastrop MD enjoys champagne and fancies himself as a bit of a windsurfer, while Oliver Gardner Deputy MD likes to get his hands dirty earning cash in between watching Telly and prefers to be known as Oli!  Nothing new to report here, absolutely nothing...I should change the name of this periodical, any suggestions? Email yours and get a key chain, Please.

Wednesday
Veritas (is the name) advised by X-Leisure (thriving in an upturn coinciding with less metals ored, more yachts moored, even more banks banked and larger numbers of folks taking to Tower Park for diversions from professional worries) have simultaneously tackled the triple task of electing directors, raising capital and developing products.  With a gagging order in effect, we have no further knowledge of this group, except they are the Ladbroke’s favourite to take home the big prize, but these are early days.  Actual news to report - Jonathan Baker has been slotted in to lead the group as Managing Director.  When he is not canoeing or earning top honours at school, he is leading the group in deep discussions about Santa and Jesus Potato Heads.  They are also actively pursuing sponsorship. "Beware of this group, the odds are stacked in their favour!" - Ladbrokes Magazine

Thursday
Corfe Hills School saw a record turn-out for the 1st time in years….15 year 11s folded themselves around the square (monopoly) board style table layout.  Brimming with confidence, these happy 15 took on their Director Applications, contemplating names and products, and stormed out the doors 30 minutes later ready to take on any Company that stood in their way.  Breaking Update…after agreeing to turn in Director Applications on Friday, as of Monday only 9 were handed in…will the Happy 15 revert to form and become a buoyant 12, odd 11, tickled 10 or dismal <9?  Tune in next week…Next week it is...and I am pleased to report that my predictions were all proved incorrect...the Happy 15 are a Jubilant 15, intact still after 2 weeks; The group has elected an MD in the form of Maddie(the surname escapes me) and a Deputy MD James Benson-King, known to most as Benson.  Despite a battlefields trip in the week, the group is planning a home meeting over half-term to discuss sponsorship, products and kissing booths!  Look out Bournemouth School for BOYS. Oh, by the way, the group do have a name - The Bizz.  Let's hope it continues to provide a Buzz.

Budmouth Technology College are a bit slow out of the blocks after a bout with Weymouth fever which has reportedly decimated the numbers and cut off access to this part of the world sometimes known as South Dorchester, North Portland or Weybiza.  The group, should they be cleared for meeting, are advised by DEK Printing Machines Ltd. (a leader in the production and distribution of machines which print circuit boards for hand-held telecommunication devices).  The group have nothing else to report.  We can only wish our western cousins luck and a rapid recovery.  Fully-fit now, the squad are back in training, attending regular meetings at the DEK offices. Comprised of 4 team players, this group Novelty Notes, will draw heavily on their musical background to offer a cutting edge/hip product (that I cannot tell you about).  Musicians by trade, these guys are hoping to set the world on fire, trading rifts and hopefully cash at the Trade Fairs.  In place as Managing Director is Faron Calder (Faz) who also acts as Company Secretary - he will certainly be busy, talking to himself, quoting himself, etc.  Anyway, you can all rest assure that our western cousins are back and do not seem to be too keen about taking prisoners.  Oh, I have to mention their band 'Playing with Giants,' and I will certainly be getting the Scoop on that name's origin...do they actually as a pastime, Play with Giants? Or, is it a nod to some of the other bands in the world, They Might Be Giants, Gentle Giant...Or are they acknowledging the American Football team or baseball team...OR, is it a wink and a nudge to Sir Isaac Newton's quote that I cannot recall that REM turned into a ditty - 'Standing on the shoulders of giants'?  I will uncover...

Friday
Kann-Do 4 U (is the name) are the longest continually running enterprise group that Enterprise & Skills mentor.  Specialising in the production of beautifully hand-crafted cards, the Montacute School-based company thrive at every trade fair because of an excellent mix of quality products and strong support.

That is about it on the Update....currently, the most popular non-member of a group is Juke from Bournemouth School. I have heard his name invoked repeatedly at meetings when they face a challenge.  So, I have got to close this Update, with a friendly Hello to Juke...Hi Juke, why is it you are so popular?

Well, you heard it here first folks; tune in next time to get my take on it.  Best of luck to all the groups, keep the ideas churning and remember you are only limited by what you think limits you! Deep, eh?

If you have any group news to report, please email Scoop Gibson at the news desk.
