A vibrant, highly motivated and inspiring programme for students who need a confidence boost or who are preparing for work experience. This programme is focused on developing good communication and presentation skills through a number of activities and presentation methods.

Years 9 to 12. Groups of 60 to 120.

Programme Duration
Full day starting as one group in main hall (30 minutes) followed by three 90 minute workshops

Programme Overview

Initial ‘Welcome & Introduction’ in main focal space
Groups then move onto their first rotation of 3 separate workshops (90 minute duration) each to engage in the following:

Life’s a Budget - A workshop looking at the cost of living with an introduction to essential yet basic economics for life
Interactive activities and discussion on:

  • Exploration of the world of business finance

  • Global issues

  • Personal finance

  • Money matters

Who wants to be a Millionaire? - A workshop on presentation skills

  • Key ingredients of an entrepreneur - Skill v Attitude

  • Innovation

  • Application of task to students followed by presentations to fellow students

  • Top presentations to whole class - winner selected

  • Judging & feedback

Construction Challenge - Teamwork and problem solving

  • Using materials provided, teams will construct shelters in the proscribed manner using triangles as the basis for their structures

  • The shelters must eventually be large enough to shelter its team members while supporting a weight

  • The students will be taught the steps to create the tubing to build the triangles to develop the structures

In order to operate confidently and successfully in school, college, university, work, and life in general this interactive focus day takes students through the importance of good communication skills, working with others, problem solving and improving own learning and performance.
