Programme in Brief

Alongside a top industry chef students will engage in a day focused on food, glorious food! From identifying foreign fruit and vegetables, cooking their own lunch (as demonstrated by Chef), to providing an ‘afternoon tea’ for the head teacher this day is interactive and fast paced . Do chefs really live up to their fearsome reputation? Let’s find out..!

Programme Duration
Full day 9:30 - 14:30.
We require a set up period of 1 hour before the commencement of the programme and the use of the school's food technology area.


Programme Overview
  • Each student is given breakfast including fresh fruit, juice and pastries. Where appropriate tea and coffee is served throughout the morning.

  • The day requires the use of the school’s food technology area. We would need access to basic kitchen equipment (knives, bowls, chopping boards etc...) and to cleaning materials (washing up liquid, tea towels etc...).

  • Enough space in the kitchen for 6 teams to cook/prepare (plus an area for our chef to demonstrate)

  • This one day programme will include an introduction to food as well as hands on experience in preparing and cooking a top class dish.

  • Our Chef will guide the students through the preparation of a culinary delight with Master chef style tasting.

  • All ingredients are provided and the students will prepare and eat their own lunch.

  • Students will receive certificates from the Chef at the end of the programme.

  • Price includes: All produce for demonstration and team tasks. Any specialized equipment required on the day. Management, prizes and evaluation.  Employer engagement in the form of an Industry Chef who will lead the day is facilitated by ESC.

Learner Outcomes
Students will gain first hand experience of the demands of a Chef.  They will have the opportunity for Q&A on both the practical side of cooking as well as costs, sourcing of ingredients and the working environment itself.
